Extrusion Operator

Department: McAdenville Extrusion
Location: McAdenville, NC

        

Job Description – Extrusion Operator 

Reports to:  Supervisor 

Position Summary 

Follow instructions and job procedures. Notify Team Leader of any condition/situation appearing to be improper or of concern. 

Essential Functions 

  • Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing all required personal protection equipment. 

  • Eye protection  

  • Hearing protection 

  • Exhibit quality awareness to meet or exceed our customer’s expectations 

  • Perform job in an efficient manner in order to meet our goals. 

  • Be present and on time on scheduled workdays for the purpose of maintaining excellent customer service  

Position Responsibilities   

  • Operate extrusion lines 

  • Thread up machines 

  • Doff finished packages 

  • Install new tubes 

  • Clean, inspect, and pack-out finished yarn bobbins 

  • Push completed buggy to pack-out line 

  • Operate pack-out line 

  • Record packed material 

  • Drive squeeze-lift to move finished cases into warehouse 

  • Clean machines and work areas – dust, fluff, mop 

  • Other duties as assigned by team leader o management  

Essential Skills and Experience  

  • Standing  - Intermittent times waiting for machine function 5% 

  • Sitting - None (on job) – available during break times 

  • Climbing - may have to climb steps to enter or exit different departments or offices or height requires it to reach machine parts. 

  • Moving - Moving materials, tools, aspirator and buggies.  Moving between machines and packing areas. Moving while stringing up and packing out. 95 % 

  • Moving Materials – Pushing buggies from manufacturing area to Pack-Out. Carrying full bobbins from machine to buggy. Using Aspirator Gun to string-up and clean bobbins. 90% 

  • Hearing/Speaking - Minimal speaking necessary. Must hear and understand directions in noisy environment. Must hear with hearing-protection PPE in place. 25% 

  • Reaching - Reach up to get and use aspirator gun to clean bobbins and string-up machines.  Reach to place bobbins on pack-out buggy.  Reach to install tubes on winders. 25% 

  • Visual Acuity - Inspect bobbins at each doff for quality defects and color consistency.  Check tubes colors are correct.  Check tube labels are correct for product and machine. 25% 

  • Bending /Stooping – Bend to pick up tubes and bobbins.  Stoop to install tubes on winders.  Stooping/Bending during stringing-up of machine. 50% 

  • Lifting – Lift completed bobbins of approximately 12 lbs. each off machine and onto buggy.  Lift aspirator gun overhead. 75% 

  • Preferred: H. S. or G.E.D.
