Senior Cost Accountant

Department: Calhoun Finance & Accounting
Location: Calhoun , GA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting for rubber manufacturing operations. Support and drive understanding of performance with operations and business segment management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Period close for rubber distribution centers including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
  • Prepare and manage forecasts related to operations performance and current volume forecast.
  • Set standards for manufactured goods using budgeted raw material costs, labor and overhead rates.
  • Research and report PPV related to raw materials and sourced goods.
  • Work with Inventory clerks on cycle count adjustments, bin status, and warehouse scrap.
  • Prepare capital expenditure forms and manage spending in relation to projects for manufacturing.
  • Prepare and present KPI’s for inventory and operation performance
  • Achieve team integration and become a valued resource for the manufacturing group by driving business changes through analyses on expenses, product costing and warehousing movements.
  • Develop annual cost center budgets, and weekly variance analysis. Improve actual performance reporting against those goals or targets.
  • Safeguards assets and ensures accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing procedures, processes, controls and checks across the business.
  • Fixed asset reporting and CIP tracking.

JOB REQIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years progressive financial experience in a distribution environment
  • Technically proficient in accounting principles and financial modeling
  • SAP General Ledger experience a plus
  • Ability to work autonomously and with a high degree of ownership
  • Superior interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial customers
  • Strong user of PC based analytical tools, e.g. spreadsheets, financial modeling, TM1 & BI tool
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong organization skills balanced with the appropriate attention to detail
  • Ability to work extended hours during selected critical time periods, e.g. period closing, budgets, year end
